The Iconic dress from “The Wizard of Oz”
I love the iconic blue gingham dress that Dorothy wears in “The Wizard of Oz”.
And today, I'm going to share with you how to recreate this timeless piece. The dress has a gathered skirt that falls just below the knees, a snug-fitting bodice with a straight neckline, and broad straps. Underneath, Dorothy wears a white blouse with puffy sleeves and a gathered neckline.
I hope this guide will help you create a dress that makes you feel like you're in Oz. I explain how to adjust the pattern for Lorraine’s dress, which is available on my Patreon, but you can also do the pattern yourself if you prefer.
In the video I show you in detail how I have sewn it and give you some tips and tricks a long the way.
If you prefer to read, you can also follow the written guide or use it to look up a step again.
